Send Your Name to Mars

I was on the NASA website today researching whether Stephen Colbert actually had the new space module named after him (the name hasn't been announced yet, but he won the write-in vote category) and I came across a place where you could send your name to Mars! This is the webpage. All you have to do is put in your name, or your kid's name, your country, and in the U.S. your zip code. You can then print a cool certificate that shows that your name is being sent to Mars on a microchip in 2011. I entered Zarina's name, and am waiting to print her certificate until we have colored ink for our printer.

I showed Brien the certificate, he thinks it's neat. You may think we're geeks, but that's okay because our child's name will travel across outer space to another planet, and her parents' names just may make the trip as well.

That is so cool and I'm totally going to do that...if people think it's nerdy, then us nerds shall unite in sending our names into space!! Thanks for the tip!

That's sort of like adopting a star....how do you know they'll actually do it? Or is it just the idea of it that is appealing?

Sometimes I just go outside and scream my own name as loud as I can...I can scream really loudly, so I bet it makes it to Mars. And the neighbors think I'm crazy, so I live a very private life.

ROFL at Danelle's comment.

I would not have pegged you for a Colbert fan.
