Brien's birthday was a week ago.
I made Brien a Birthday breakfast of sausage, eggs, and toast. I then also fried up some bacon, because for lunch I made bacon, guacamole, cheeseburgers. They were so good we decided that we needed to make gourmet burgers and sandwiches more often.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Brien took Z to the store when he ran some errands and bought her a little flower pin wheel. She puts the ball cap on sideways all the time. When we say, "We need to go," she grabs a hat and a teddy bear and heads for the front door.

It looks messy, but it tasted great. This cake was a first for me. I baked 2 square cakes and then cut them in half for more layers. It's lemon cake with raspberry filling. (We were also supposed to have lemon filling, but it didnt' set up at all.) I used a little lemon extract in the frosting (as Danelle suggested) and it was great. The cake was even better tasting the next day.

Brien says that he enjoyed his birthday. He worked a half day and was able to spend the rest of the day doing whatever he wanted. Also, he was well fed, so that kept him smiling.

That looks like a fun birthday. The cake looks delightful! I love cakes with fruity fillings like that, but I've never actually made one. Also, I promise that I'll get you those cookies in within the next couple of weeks. I just gave cookies to the girls who live near me that won. It's been a busy month, but I promise I haven't forgoten about it.
One more thing (as if I haven't already said enough!) I tried the sugar cookie recipe you gave me and it was delicious! I will surely use it again, thanks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIEN!!! (a little late) I'm glad that you had a fun day. Remember when I had a birthday cake made out of gingerbread ice cream sandwiches? Glad the lemon extract worked out well for y'all.

I think the cake is beautiful. My MIL puts almond extract in her frosting. It's yummy.
