Happy Valentine's Day!

Brien gave me a box of chocolates and the book Becoming Jane Austen this morning. While he took his shower I made him breakfast, sausage and oatmeal pancakes. Zarina was also wanting to be fed and changed, so I neglected her by transferring her from her crib to the swing so I could be a good wife. I gave Brien his candy, M&M dark chocolate peanut in the Valentine mix, but his gift hasn't arrived yet. He will get his homemade valentine card at lunch, since lunch is nothing special, but I am making a special dinner tonight. He already made dessert (homemade ice creams, vanilla bean and strawberry-raspberry, layered in a heart shaped baking mold). The dessert is fashioned after this one from Williams-Sonoma (Brien's made it before and it's wonderful too).

Last night I made sugar cookies, but I only had time to frost the overcooked cookies (they aren't burnt, but they're not soft, I set the timer for 7 hours instead of 7 minutes, after 19 minutes I realized the timer never went off). I need to frost a few cookies, then color the icing and frost the rest of the cookies. The well-done cookies went to work with Brien this morning. We get a few of the good cookies and the rest will go to the neighbors, if the weather breaks, it's freakin' cold outside! At 10:57am weather.com Ely at 21 degrees, but with wind chill it's actually 4 degrees. I don't plan on going outside anytime soon.

For today I need to start in on the pork roast for dinner, I'm making a pork roll recipe that I found at the Betty Crocker site, it uses pistachios and apricots, sounds so good. I also need to clean the house so that it creates a pleasant dinner environment; we will actually eat at the kitchen table this evening, hopefully. I should also bathe sometime today and give the baby a bath as well.
