The Remote Baby

There are a few little things I would like to remember about Zarina. When she started eating food she would sit in her chair with her feet out and her hands in the air. She would twist her hands and feet around in little circles the whole time she ate. This ended around the time she turned one.

Back in December she started rubbing the hem on our shirt sleeves. If you are holding her in your lap and she is trying to relax she will find your shirt sleeve hem and rub it between her fingers.

Today at the grocery store she was getting fussy. She would suddenly yell out, and I would tell her that she needed to stop shouting at me. She put her foot up on the shopping cart handle and figured out how to pull off her shoe. She then gave the shoe to me to hold while she pulled off her sock. Then she would try to put her sock back on. I would replace the sock and shoe and she would take them off again. It was a great game for her, and we only almost lost the sock once.

It's been about four months since Zarina decided she loved the remote control. Before that if she happened to pick it up she wasn't pushing the buttons. When she started changing the channels we kept the remote away from her. Today when I was vacuuming Zarina sat on the couch and found the remote. When I finally turned of the vacuum, in the other room, I realized she had maxed out the volume, on a snowy screen because she turned off the power for the satelite receiver. When I asked her what she did she offered me the remote because she knew I could fix her problem. This afternoon I was unpacking the groceries when she, again, got her hands on the remote. She jabbered at me when I walked in the room. It was as if she was saying, "Here mom, you fix it." Even though, "Jaja mema," is what came out of her mouth.

Sidenote: Grocery shopping
At the store butter was below my "buy it" price, so I picked up 5 boxes. It will be going in the cellar in the deep freezer. I can already hear Brien saying, "Did we really need more butter?" my response will be, "We need a year's supply of food. Isn't butter a good place to start?"

Don't you just love kids! Their personality just shines through! She is adorable and I can tell you are sucha great mommy!

Also have you thought about her own remote or one to say the DVD player that isn't in use right then. I know it's never the same though. Ours is a Dish Network Universal remote and you can push on of the AUX buttons not in use (like for the DVD player) and they can then play with it without doing much. But it is fun to learn ause and effect!

Okay, Adam has been going on about the butter post for a week now. He thought it was funny since he has a wife who has started to stockpile certain foods. I said, "yeah, it's because Brien's response would've been your response, right?" :) Butter is a great place to start.
