Aprons – Y/N? If Y, what does your favorite look like?
Yes, I have two aprons. I don't use them as often as I should, but I like my teal/blue apron that has bright yellow lemons all over it. It's a bit eccentric, but I bought it on sale at Ross shortly after I moved out of my parents house.
Baking – Favorite thing to bake
I like to bake cookies, brownies, and banana bread. Since I live at a high altitude some things have not turned out as yummy as when I was in Las Vegas. I don't bake as often after moving to Ely. I also like to bake lasagna and pizza.
Clothesline – Y/N?
No. My friend up the street has one and I thought it might be useful, but really you can only use it during the summer.
Donuts – Have you ever made them?
Yes. Brien and I made our first set together a few months ago and I (we) were asked to make some for a church activity at the beginning of May. Brien didn't let me cook too many, he was worried that I might get clumsy net to a pot of hot oil. Prior to that I hadn't made donuts. The closest I came was making frybread with biscuit dough as a child.
Every day – One homemaking thing you do every day,
This is a tough question. On days when Brien is gone I often get lazy and I might not cook anything and leave my dishes in the sink. Lately, I have been making lots of chocolate milk, does that count for anything?
Freezer – Do you have a separate deep freeze?
Not yet. We both want one, but there is no place to put it.
Garbage Disposal – Y/N?
Yes. The house didn't come with one, so Brien got to install it after we bought the house. He also installed the dishwasher.
Handbook – What is your favorite homemaking resource?
My mom is my all-around resource. For cooking/baking I love my Betty Crocker cookbook because it has so much information in it. I should mention that my mom gave me the cookbook.
Ironing – Love it or hate it?
I actually like to iron, but I haven't had to iron in about a year. On my mission I decided that I was okay with the "non-ironed wrinkle free look" in contrast with the "ironed wrinkle free look."
Junk drawer – Y/N? Where is it?
Yes, it's on my computer table, because there are no drawers.
Kitchen – Color and decorating scheme?
I'm going for the construction look. On the walls primer gray, primer white, and old ucky beige with a liberal sprinkling of joint compoun (sheetrock mud.) The ceiling has cute light fixtures with sheetrock patches. Old apartment-like dark brown particle board cupboards and an open faced steel shelving unit. Did I mention that the kitchen is full of white appliances?
Love – What is your favorite part of homemaking?
I don't really consider myself a homemaker yet. I do like to pick out paint colors and envision how nice our house will look when we have redone our floors and put up molding and baseboards.
Mop – Y/N?
I wait as long as possible to mop. Hopefully I feel different when I am home with a baby.
Nylons – Wash by hand or in the washing machine?
Wash in a lingerie bad in the machine and air dry.
Oven – Do you use the window or open the oven to check?
In my Ely rental unit there was no window on the oven. I have a great oven light, so I try to peek through the window. When things are almost cooked you have no choice but to open the door and check.
Pizza – What do you put on yours?
I may try a "gourmet" pizza at a restaraunt, but we go traditional when making them at home. We make a whole wheat crust that we brush with an olive oil blended with garlic, basil, and other herbs. Our sauce is a combination of tomato paste and Park family salsa. I like pepperoni, sausage, ham, olives, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and cheese of course.
Quiet – What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment?
Since I work all day my quiet moments are in the evening and I like to put my feet up and watch TV. I have started a cross stitch project and I also make a habit out of ignoring the dog. He feels that quiet moments are really opportunities to play with him.
Recipe card box – Y/N? What does it look like?
I have a box that doesn't get used much anymore. It's quite disorganized. We also have books and binders that have been gifts to us. Our recipes are everywhere.
Style of house – What style is your house?
I'm no good at naming styles. I guess I could say that ours is a mix of modern and traditional?
Tablecloths and napkins – Y/N?
No. We rarely eat at our table.
Under the kitchen sink – Organized or toxic wasteland?
It's an organized toxic wasteland. Really I don't think too much of it is toxic. We try for the non-toxic cleaners.
Vacuum – How many times per week?
We don't have much to vaccuum, and it's just the two of us (plus dog of course). I think the goal is once a week, but it goes 2-3 weeks sometimes. We do vaccuum before visitors come, so the slew of June houseguests should feel safe.
Wash - How many loads of laundry do you do per week?
I don't keep track, and Brien does a lot of the laundry as well. I would guesstimate 5 loads.
X’s – Do you keep a daily list of things to do that you cross off?
I haven't made a list in a very long time. I used to make one almost every Saturday.
Yard – Y/N? Who does what?
Yes. I helped with the mowing 1 of the 3 times so far. I have pulled lots of weeds and Brien has allowed my input on where some of the plants should go. Since we had no yard, only weeds (really, you can't imagine how much of a yard did not exist; our friends weren't interested in this buying this house because there were so many weeds, everywhere). Back on track, we are putting in our yard this year, so there has been tons of extra work that hopefully won't have to be repeated next year.

This has nothing to do with the post, but are you finding out the sex of your baby? If so, when do you find out? Have you found out yet?
