Oatmeal

I wanted to share my oatmeal solution with others. I like the flavor in instant oatmeal, but it doesn't have much fiber. Whole oats are okay, but it's hard to make them plain oatmeal taste like strawberries and cream. I usually add a lot of brown sugar, so it loses the health benefit. My solution is cooking (microwaving) a 1/4 cup of rolled oats with about 3/4 cup of milk (or a milk/water mix), after those are partially cooked (1 min. in the microwave) I add one packet of flavored instant oatmeal and cook for another minute. This way I get my flavor and I get my fiber. I know that they now have the weight control oatmeal, which is higher in fiber, or I could add a fiber supplement, but either of those options are more expensive. I feel good about my cheap, healthier, oatmeal solution.
