school work

Considering I didn't work this past Monday, it was a very long work week. Yesterday felt like a cursed Friday the 13th morning. I must have been happy to have Brien back home, because I snuggled in next to him in the morning and completely overslept. I was finally up at 7am and I am supposed to be to work at 7:30am. (We had stayed up late Thursday night signing our paperwork from Countrywide, house here we come!) About 8:10 (school starts at 8:30) the vice-principal came in to my library and said they were unable to find sub for the special ed teacher, so they needed me to cover her class today. I agreed to do it, although I really just wanted to work in my library and finish my book order. As I sat down at my desk to review the lesson plan I teared up a little, I really did not want to have to teach that day. Brien came in about 5 minutes later to deliver my "McDonald's breakfast of champions" since I wasn't able to eat at home. I was so distracted I didn't notice my Monopoly pieces on my hasbrown, so I probably threw away an instant win prize. I guess I'll never know.

I am a certified substitute, and Ely has a very short list of people who can sub. If I decided not to work in the library next year I should have no problem working everyday as a sub. The only problem is I don't like sub-bing the middle school students, we will have to wait and see how it is with H.S. and elementary. I feel like I have no classroom management skills and therefore the kids can drive me crazy. I am getting better at laying down the law and taking control. I guess like most jobs I would need to practice being a substitute in order to feel more comfortable.

Subbing middle school would stink. At least it's the weekend right? Are you liking the librarian job?
