Learning How to Change the Subject

Me: "Zarina, get off of me," as we sit on the couch and Z decides to use my ponytail as a rope to help her climb across my back.

Z: "I love you too, mom."

Me: "Really? I'm not so sure."

Z: "I make you happy."

And she's right.

Today I thought, "I will go all day without a ponytail." Then I spent 10 minutes on my hands and knees looking under beds and dressers for Z's slippers (that she urgently needed to find so she could not put them on her feet, but she did count them). I looked at my hair in the mirror and quickly pulled it back.

Zarina's favorite hair compliment is "Your hair is fluffy. Fluffy hair." We've commented so often on her fluffy hair that she picked up on it. She will move my hair around so it's on my shoulder and she can snuggle her face in it and tell me how fluffy it is. It's more appropriate when she talks about Brien's fluffy hair as she strokes it.

I hate my hair in a pony tail. It makes my face look so big....but I am a mom (just like all of us)and when I'm at home it is the hair style of choice!
