I really did enjoy the cold weather, probably because I knew that it would be nicer today. (It's been chilly and sunny.) I haven't felt the need to go out into the world the last few days, and the bad weather gave me a great excuse to stay warm inside the house. Happily I was able to catch up on all our laundry. (I have a partial load of whites that is waiting for Brien to come home this afternoon with his dirty clothes.) Not exciting, but productive nonetheless. We are going out of town for a few days and even though my house isn't spotless, it feels pretty clean and organized.
(sidenote: I laid Zarina down for a nap partway through the last paragraph and she is already quiet. Hopefully she will keep the "good napper" status into toddler-hood.)
Since this is just my random chain of thoughts I have to say, I love Brien. He is so patient with me. He's been gone for 3 days and 2 nights and I am looking forward to having him back home again. My dad was gone alot when I was growing up, so I told myself I would not date a military man because I didn't want to a part-time single parent the way my mom was. Little did I realize Brien would have a field season that would take him away from me. We are not one of those couples that will get to say, "We've been married 23 years and we've only spent 10 days apart." While it would be nice to have him home every night, I feel that the time apart reminds me that I am a capable person who can take care of herself. (Even when I feel lonely.)

One of my favorite CD's only has about 4 songs on it. For those of you who know the original Zarina D. you will remember that we liked it back in college when she played her guitar and sang her lovely (and funny) songs. Well, I have a secret CD that I burned behind her back years ago. Zarina actually made a couple copies of the CD, then she left her car at my apartment when she flew out of town for a few days. I had her car keys and borrowed the CD (without Z's knowledge), had Brien burn me a copy and then returned the CD. It was months before I even told her that I did it. I lost the CD when I moved to Ely, but I found it again a few months ago. Whenever I miss the carefree college days and the friends I had in Las Vegas I just play the CD. Also, it's nice that I have the songs so I can share them with baby Zarina when she gets older and wants to know about the person she was named after. In fact, I think I'll go have a listen right now.

Oh how I miss those days filled with Zarina's singing! How much do you want for a copy of that CD? :)
