A Look into the Future
Jack was acting tired and cranky this morning. He kept finding things to bark at outside and he would scratch to come in only to want back out 5 minutes later. I wasn't giving in to his whims, but after one particular outdoor barking episode I made him lay down in his kennel and I locked him in so he would take a nap. Things were going well for about 60-90 minutes and then someone had to come knock on my door. This of course woke Jack up and he began to bark. It just made me think about the future when I will try to get my dog and baby to take a nap. The badly timed knocks on the door will make the dog bark which will wake up the baby and then I can be doubly annoyed.

Maybe you should put a sign up during nap time.
"Dog or child sleeping, do not knock or your hands will be cut off."
Also, your baby will probably get use to hearing Jack bark.
I'm always surprised when Eden has her loud crying fits in the night and it never seems to wake up Lilah.
Though that is usually during her deep sleep moments.
I love these post when you talk about a future of a crying child, all I see is Brien taking long walks and shaking his heaad as he walks. Welcome to the world of crying babies. I am happy to be on the side-lines!!
