We had planned to go to Salt Lake for Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2-4), but a week before (Aug. 28th) Brien and I decided we didn't want to be guests or have any guests. He was nominated to make the call to his parents and let them know that wouldn't be seeing us. Then on Thursday (Aug. 31st) we decided that maybe we would just make a quick trip to Utah.
We left on Sat. around 11:30 am, because of the time change it was technically 4pm when we arrived. We shopped like crazy for 4 hours. Mom Park took us to Sam's Club (Costco was too far to drive with our limited time frame), then we hit Wal-mart and were able to pick up some good deals in the clearance area. (I know, I know, Wal-Mart is evil, but there is one major shopping complex close to the parent's house, so we used it. Thankfully a Target is opening there this fall/winter.) We also went to Kohl's and I bounght the cutest denim jacket. I have wanted a jean jacket since junior high, maybe even earlier, I can't tell you how happy the jean jacket makes me feel. We also stopped at the pet store (Jack's tag now has a quieter around it) and Deseret Boook. I think we might have gone other places as well, really it's all just a blur of an evening. The 2nd best event of the shopping trip (#1 is the denim jacket) was that we bought tamales off a man in the Wal-Mart parking lot. He didn't speak much English, he was actually trying to sell them to some Latinos next to us, but he noticed my ears perk up at the mention of tamales. Brien paid $10 for 12 warm beef tamales in a plastic ziplock bag. The whole experience makes me smile. The tamales tasted great, I would buy them again in the Wal-mart at Jordan's Landing Parking Lot.
Due to the long shopping trip Brien didn't see much of his dad. Dennis had to go to bed a few hours after we came back home because he was working the day shift. Needless to say I wasn't surprised when Sunday morning came around and Brien said he wanted to stay another night . It was good to spend more time with his family. Everyone came over for dinner and I found out Eric (our bro-in-law) can't stand the taste of hamburger. He drowned his burger in Ranch to cover the taste, it made me smile. Another funny thing, Hollie (SIL) shared how she runs into women that her husband dated/kissed prior to their marriage. She said these women (now grown, possibly married, possibly have kids) would get giddy and tell her "Oh, Wil is so cute, I kissed him once." She was wondering what her reaction should be to this situation. I told her the appropriate response is, "Yeah, well I've had sex with him." (She's currently pregnant with #3.) It is always so nice to be with his family. I enjoy them (and I'm not just saying that in case you read this).
On the drive home Brien (while driving) snapped this photo of Jack and I sleeping (it took about 5-6 attempts). He told me I could use it on my blog.
Andrea & Jack looking very cute while sleepingWhile looking for a photo of Brien, I came across this one and decided it was a good expression of his personality so I should share it with whoever reads this.

You guys are the silliest. Wal-Mart is evil! Really, it is helpful for those in lower economic status and those who are too cheap to go else where. (j/k about the people who are cheap, sometimes it is the only option.)
We look forward to seeing you this weekend.
I'm not cheap, driving out to Costco and a non-Wal-Mart store would have added an extra hour to our shopping trip.
Yay for road trips! Cute pictures, cute response to the kissing comment and cute you!
So are you coming to town soon?
