Blah, Blah, Blah

I'm sure you'll ALL be relieved to know that I switched over to google reader this evening. I've had a gmail account for a while, but I only use it for Redbox and the occasional email from Brien. (He has to tell me when he sends an email to the account since I rarely check it).

I do have one question: How can I get the private blogs to show up in GR? I read 3 or 4 private blogs (when I remember to check them) and they won't let me subscribe, and even though I can follow them on my blogger dashboard, they won't show on the GR list. Even the dashboard won't load the posts, it says there's an error with the link, but when I click on the link I go to the correct website. Any suggestions would be great.

In other matters, the extended time at the computer has made my neck sore and hasn't helped my already sore right hip area. I feel older lately.

Yesterday, Friday, was Zarina's birthday (pictures should follow in a few days, I need to download) and we had an awesome fairy party. I'm amazed at the difference between 2 and 3. The motor skills and verbal development in that year are amazing. She was an easy 2 year old, nothing too terrible about it, and I'm wondering how 3 will be. I love watching her label and categorize the things around her. She likes to say who sits wear in the two vehicles (since I usually drive the family in my car, and Brien takes care of that in his 4 runner) and sometimes assigns our places at the dinner table. She'll randomly say things like, "Dad's wearing a red coat, his truck is red." "Your name is Andrea, but I call you mommy."

Zarina's good at telling you she has two names, but is confused that grandma Deneece shares the same last name as her.

It was chilly and rainy part of last week, but she wanted to play outside, after putting a jacket on her she still came back inside and told me she needed her "snow hat and muffins." After I mentioned mittens she didn't make the same mistake.

Pajamas are "najamas."

She can't pronounce "L's" at the beginning of words, yet (look becomes yook).

When dad comes home she usually becomes super-excited and will open the front door for him. He is then attacked by Zarina and Jack (who will scratch frantically at the back door if he's outside when Brien returns). My returns and exits generate about 1/10 of that excitement from Zarina, and Jack only wants to go with me, he doesn't care that I come back home. (There are some evenings that Brien is really happy to see me after an hours absence).

She likes to read books, and loves story hour.

Zarina is becoming more and more helpful. She likes to get the forks out for dinner, and, for a few months now, I'll ask her to get the peanut butter out of the pantry for her sandwiches. She loves to help me bake by stirring the ingredients (and licking the beaters. Don't judge, raw egg in cookie dough or cake batter has never made me sick).

Zarina is learning the difference between boy clothes and girl clothes. Some of her boy shorts she started to refuse to wear. Thankfully it's turning into pant weather anyways. She keeps pulling out skirts to put on. Brien will say, "Why are you wearing a skirt?" She replies, "I'm a girl and girls wear skirts."

Brien wanted a super hero party, but she wasn't excited by that, the fairy party was more her style. She will watch all the various "boy" cartoons with Brien, so that will have to make him happy for now.

Zarina's excited that she'll celebrate her half birthday by finally welcoming a new baby into the household. She picked the name Dusty, where it came from we don't know. Perhaps we've mentioned the dusty TV screen, car exterior, car dashboard, dog or just that the desert is a dusty place? It's hard to say. (To add a clarifying note, we have an expected due date of April 2, 2011. I think it should really be around April 8th. And what are you people doing up so late? especially in Utah? You're all crazy!)

Well, that was a sly work-in of an announcement. Congrats! And happy birthday to Zarina! She sounds like she gets more and more fun every day.

As for getting private blogs in GR, I hate to inform you that it isn't possible. It's because privatization of a blog prevents anyone or anything other than those with permission to access the blog. I hate it too and have a hard time remembering to check my friends' blogs if they've gone private.

Fun post.

How exciting to have an April baby. Just try to avoid April 1st...no one likes a fool. Oh, and Dusty may not be the best name to go along with your last name...call me crazy, but that doesn't sound like a fun place to play. :)

Congrats Andrea! That's so exciting.

As far as the google reader, some people that I follow who are private, will post on a public blog that they've updated the private blog (for example, they'll write "i've updated). That way people will be informed through google reader. But, of course, it's up to the person to do that.

That's so funny that we're having babies right around the same time again! Congratulations! I hope that you are feeling well. I think it's really lame that you can't look at private blogs on Google Reader. Congrats again on the baby!

I am so happy Zarina loved my gifts. I will need to send more items by mail now that I know she enjoys it so much. Congrats on the new baby. I hope it's a boy as Dusty is not a very good girls name.
