Trying to Spring

Our snow was melting an returning, our yard has been completely snow free since the last little bit melted last Thursday. Back on April 2nd a friend suggested sledding at a park. Zarina wasn't too keen on the sledding idea at first, so she just enjoyed playing in the park. (I like the mickey mouse ears of this first photo).

Zarina did decide to sled for a little bit. She really seemed to enjoy it. When she was done though, she was really done. I love that her desire to go home was great enough that she toted the sled most of the way back to the car.

In the midst of all the snow, the tulips have been growing. This picture is from Monday. Monday was warmth, sunshine, and just beautiful. Tuesday was windy and chilly, with thunderstorms in the evening. On the bright side, it was warm enough that the rain didn't turn to snow until this morning. The snow didn't really stick, the sun is out right now (noon), the little bit of snow melted quickly, and I feel happy. Maybe next Tuesday we'll have our first tulips.

These are our crocuses (sp?). Quite a few of them bloomed early in April, and then were covered and eventually killed by an evil snow storm. Luckily they didn't all bloom at the same time, so we were able to enjoy a second round of flowers.

These lovelies are some of our daffodils on Monday. They are the closest to blooming. In the last two days they have made so much progress. I'm so excited to see the flowers, but I leave town Thursday morning. Depending on the weather, and my random, unprofessional guess, I think they will bloom on Friday or Saturday. Hopefully it doesn't get too cold. Daffodils don't last very long and we won't be back home until late Monday morning. (I usually don't publicize when we are gone, but it's not like we have anything worth stealing).
I never thought I would care about flowers as much as I do.

Monday was also "Wear your Halloween Costume" Day

Whenever the camera is out, Zarina wants her picture taken. Or when she's feeling photogenic she requests a picture be taken. I'll call this chef d'ouevre:
"Happy Girl in Desperate Need of a Haircut"

Finally, when we saw How to Train Your Dragon (Zarina loved it when she sees ads on TV she'll tell us she "liked that movie") we also saw this license plate in the parking lot:

PS: As I typed those last few lines Z decided to "color" our faux leather sofa, right next to me. She was sent to her room and showed proper devastation at being caught in the act.

Ohmygosh. Z is getting so big. In that last picture she's looking like a little girl more, and a toddler less. I can't wait to see you in May. I'm assuming your trip is to Utah since I haven't heard of you coming here.

I like the Mickey ears, too. And someone is a little bit too obsessed when their vanity plates refer to fictitious schools. Unless it's J.K., then that would be acceptable, in my opinion.

Z is such a sweetie. I hope you have a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser..they get anything off of most surfaces, even faux leather.

Good times sledding. We could have gone again this morning!! What a lovely sight to wake up to. I'm sure it will be gone before your return. :)
