Politics

There are signs like this all over town. For those who don't know, Harry Reid is one of Nevada's senators, the Majority Whip, and some people in town don't like his politics. The interesting part is we don't get to vote for Harry Reid here. One of the newer signs is on main street and is about 6 ft. x 10 ft. Because of these signs Brien wants to get one that supports Harry.

Too bad the Republican Party has no idea who they're going to run against Reid. These people may actually get what they wish for: anyone but Reid. Or are these people really considering voting third party?

Even though I too do not like Reid, I still look at a person's background and decide who is the lesser evil, because it's never who's the greater good.

I think it's funny because I don't know many people who are in Reid's distract who go through Ely. Probabbly why you posted this. They're really just voicing that they don't like Reid, but they, and the people they're voicing it to, have no power to change it!

It's like me saying, "Get rid of the Govanator!" when I or 99.9% of the people who would see my sign have no power to act upon it. (I really have nothing against Governor Swartzanager, or however his name is spelled. I don't know enough about him to care.)

It's just dumb.

A helpful sign would be "Elect Anyone Butt Governor Gibbons!" That's something I could back.

(Does the Butt stand for someone? I would hate to be a politician that had the last name Butt.?

Harry Reid helped me out TONS 5 years ago when I had Chase here in the states because Eric was off in Iraq. The Air Force wasn't doing what they needed to do to get Chase his passport, and giving me a major run around, which they like to do... but we couldn't go back to Japan and take Chase with us, without this certain paperwork besides the passport and for some reason they were totally dragging their feet! So I contacted Harry Reid for help! The military does not like it when you go to your senator for help and he was pleased as punch to help me! Once I called him, and his people contacted the military, the paperwork I needed was done in a matter of like 2 days!So i say...GO HARRY! :)

Tim McKenna LOVES Reid. I hear from Tim all the good he's done for Tim & his family personally and I don't judge him as much as others. If you ever go to Washington DC Tim will contact him and you will get a personal tour of the White House and go where only Reid or his Assistant can go. A connection is a connection : ) Good or bad

I have no idea what any of this is about, but I think a better sign would be:

REID about HARRY BUTT!

That would be a great pamphlet for your local hair removal companies.

I have to mention that we are all in Senator Reid's "district" because we all get to vote for both Senators. Only the House is divided by districts within the state. (Article 1, Section 3, and the 17th Amendment)

As for the Senator -- I see both good and bad. My two personal encounters were not great, but I really liked his "Faith, Family and Public Service" talk at BYU - stream it from here: http://www.ldsvoices.com/index.php?id=913

Unfortunately, the lesser evil is usually the way we vote. :(

Reid has a mind like an elephant. He never forgets and he is very friendly and helpful.

One day Reid was on campus and Rawlin, my BIL, was walking with some co-workers that didn't like him and Reid saw him and said hello and asked about Fernard and Sandra, my in-laws, and his co-workers were so impressed he knew Harry Reid. (Reid was in my in-laws ward for a period of time.)

I remember thinking how cool it was that Dad went to Wood Badge with Harry Reid one summer, now I don't care.

Okay, I feel dumb for not realizing that everyone votes for the senator. It just happens so infrequently (every 6 years right?) that I forgot. We must have only had the Senatorial election for John Ensign since I moved here, my bad.

I saw that Harry's term ends in 2011, so his election is next year in 2010.
