Thursday of last week I was supposed to be packing for the weekend trip to Vegas, instead I was trying to figure out why I had a sore breast and how would I feed my baby since it hurt to have her latch on. After a long afternoon and evening I was able to work out the pain, but still saw the doctor Friday morning before leaving town. We don't really know what was wrong, some minor mystery infection that cleared up within 24 hours.
Regardless of the length of the trip Zarina seems to hit her limit about 10 minutes before arriving at our destination. On the way to LV we stopped in Alamo for a feeding break, but she still became fussy in the same manner as when we don't stop for a feeding and diaper change, go figure.
Saturday was a shopping day. I felt as though I abandoned my baby. After a late breakfast at my parent's house (we were staying across town with Carolyn and Derek) we left the baby with g-ma and g-pa and went out for a few hours. We then went back to the house to feed the baby, we had a feeling that she wouldn't take a bottle for them, we were right. We left again to finish some shopping and went to dinner at Claim Jumper's (Cheesecake Factory had a long wait, but we still bought some dessert there) and then we finally picked up the baby from my parent's and drove across town to Carolyn's so we could sleep. It's about 25 minutes between the two houses, but my parent's home was a little too full for us to stay with them. We went to bed about 10:30pm.
Sunday was Family Home Evening. This was maybe the second time that we have been in town on the correct Sunday evening since moving to Ely. We had some close family friends that were finally able to meet Zarina. It's hard to believe that she is already 3 months old! 25% of the way to being 1 year.
Monday was Brien's dentist appointment, the actual reason for the trip. He had to have some older fillings drilled out and replaced. Z and I hung out with Lacey and I made a quick trip to Target while waiting for Brien. The dentist had to give him some heavy doses of Novocaine, so his mouth was numb for most of the drive home. Only when he got up on Tuesday, when the pain had worn off, did he realize that the filling was too high and would need to be fixed.
Tuesday I called the dentist's office to see if they could fit Brien in on Wednesday. The appointment was made for 10:30am. I then made arrangements for Jack to be puppy-sat by our friends. The poor dog spent the long weekend at the kennel (he loves it there) and then his first night "home" was at our friends house so we wouldn't have to worry about him when we left early on Wednesday morning.
Wednesday rundown:
5:05 am wake-up
5:45 feed the baby
6:30 let the house 30 minutes later than planned
6:35 have to get gas
6:40 drive on roads that have a little leftover snow
approx. 7:45 no more snow on the roads, yeah!
8:45 potty break in Alamo, let the baby sleep so we can keep moving at a fast pace.
9:35 baby starts to get fussy, I pump as we drive down the highway
9:50 pull over at the junction with the 15 so I can move to the backseat and try to give the baby a bottle, fortunately she takes it.
10:20 arrive at the dentist 10 minutes early, we were so proud of ourselves.
After the appointment we returned a few purchases, had lunch and made some new purchases.
2:30pm we were on the freeway headed out of town. My family has no idea we made this trip unless they read my blog.
We stopped in Alamo for a long feeding. I had to drive a little slower to get us home because it was hard to see the road, even though the roads were clean and dry. We picked up the dog a little after 7pm.
It was a very long day.
Thursday, today 11:20 am, get of the internet and feed crying baby.

Derek has a smile?
The yellow pants match the yellow shoes Mickey Mouse is wearing. Right?
I'm glad you guys got safely home both times.
I guess this is what happens when your dentist is in another town.
Traveling with a baby is without a doubt one of the toughest things ever. Especially a baby who is breast feeding. I can totally relate to your story! Also, I love that Brien dressed her in that outfit! Really funny!
Lacey, you understand how Brien matched the clothes.
Cute pictures! She looks like a major chub! Sounds like a crazy long day.
