Yeah, we had a baby

I hadn't uploaded any pictures, so I couldn't blog. Because who cares that you had a baby if you aren't posting some photos? Now that the pressure is off I can blog about other things too.

So Poppy Ellen came along on April 5, 2011, at 9:11pm. She was 9 lb. 3 oz. and 20.25 inches long. She started out looking like this:


and a few days later she looked like this: (that's the orange blanket I mentioned in the last post, months ago)

I love to take pictures of my family sleeping. Right afterwards Brien always says, "What are you doing?" Poppy's orange outfit resembled a leisure suit, unfortunately it was sized for newborns, and she only wore that size for about a week.

Brien really, really, really doesn't like bow on our baby. It doesn't matter if they wrap around, or are little bows just stuck on with corn syrup. I'm not a fan of HUGE bows, but we put this one on just for fun. Zarina doesn't want Poppy to be alone in a picture.

Poppy, in her blessing dress, on Memorial Day. My mom made the dress and also the blanket behind her. She also made Zarina a baby blanket out of the same yarn, but thankfully a different pattern.

We had some time to kill at the doctor's office. At her 2 month appointment Poppy weighed in at 13 lb. 3 oz. and was 22 inches long.

Since Poppy has brown "hair" (it's doesn't show well in the photos) some people say she looks like me. Zarina had blond hair/fuzz as a baby.

The big question is whether Poppy looks like Zarina. The picture below is Zarina at 6 months. I don't have the time to stitch together a side-by-side for your viewing pleasure.
There's a good resemblance, but they are different enough we shouldn't have trouble identifying the baby photos.
