More Random Thoughts

My parents will be here for dinner. So I decided to type instead of straightening things up. They're spending the night here on the way to Brigham City. I'm excited to have adults at home with me this evening to talk to. (Brien has been in Bend, OR, since Sunday for a work training. He'll be home tomorrow around lunch time.) I think Tuesday was when Zarina would randomly say, "I miss my dad." She's used to him being gone during the day, but in the evening she can't figure out why he's not home.

My house is in okay shape, it will only take a few hours to straighten, mop, and change the sheets. My inner Martha is showing through, I don't what we'll have for dinner, but there will be the scent of fresh banana bread (one loaf with blueberries, the other chocolate chips) when they show up.

So onto the randomness:
I don't think I've ever had a frozen waffle . They're on sale and I want to buy them just so I can know how they taste. I think my BIL Derek use to eat them often, but the last time I checked out their freezer I was disappointed at the lack of frozen waffles. I know that fresh are better (Derek knows this too now), but that doesn't mean I'm not curious.

I also wonder about the little White Castle burgers that are in the frozen section. You reheat them in the microwave, I think this would be fairly yucky, but some how they stay in business. Derek had these "sliders" in his freezer, but they come in a two pack, and there was no one to share it with. If Derek had been there he could have eaten the 2nd slider, but there was just Carolyn and Brien, and they refused to eat a slider.

Is there anything that you're curious to taste. It's strange to want a bite of something that's not good, but like I said, I'm curious and it's not chocolate covered ants.

And just so the Blake family knows, I have been working on your Christmas present. If I had known before yesterday that mom and dad were visiting I would have tried to finish it so I could send it with them instead of mailing it. I appreciate your patience, but really, what choice do you have? It should still be in your hands by the end of January.

Zarina randomness

Brien is happy that Zarina likes to watch cartoons with him, like Johnny Quest, Samuri Jack, Batman and Spiderman. I came home from a Young Women's activity last week and she was laying on the couch, sucking her thumb. Her greeting was, "Hi, mom. I watch Johnny Quest." When you put it on the channel she will repeat excitedly, "Johny Quest, Johnny Quest, Johnny Quest."

Zarina loves her potato heads. I think it's the fun accessories. First we bought Spider Spud for Christmas (for a great price at the local drug store in the toy basement). It has a Spiderman suit and eyes, a web shooter and also "Peter Parker Parts" (a toothy smile, human-like nose and glasses). Brien then decided she needed a Mrs. Potato, so Z got the missus before Christmas (using an on-line coupon to save a few bucks). For Christmas, at the last minute, there were some "baby potato heads," as she calls them, at the drug store on clearance, so we grabbed 2 of them. The day after Christmas at Target a woman handed over her "Santa Spud" to us, and that is our whole Potato head collection. It was potato overload, but Zarina likes to rearrange them, and we keep everything in a clear plastic packaging that bedsheets came in, so there's no trying to open and close the body for storage. Since there are so many parts I put a few things in a bin under her bed, like one of the big potato bodies and a few parts. If she still likes them next October we are definitely buying "Trick or Tater." We waited too long this year and missed out on him. You could dress him as a ghost, or a vampire, and I think the ears even glowed in the dark! Potatoes and Little People are her favorite toys. It's cute to see her imagination developing.

Enough wasted time, on to the house.

We like the White Castle Cheeseburgers at our house. They are so bad for you, but they have the "real thing" (the actual fast food White Castle) in Kentucky and James introduced me to them. You have to microwave them less time than what they say, but it's surprising how good a microwaved burger can be. Although the real thing is a billion times better. LOL!

Karen also loves Mr. Potato Head. If you ever go to Disneyland, you can get a big thing of random parts that have to do with Disneyland like a Minnie bow, Pirate ears, etc. We got them when we went in Feb. last year and Karen got them for Christmas. Have you seen the mini cat and dog potato head? They are so cute! Karen got those with an online coupon I printed out.

-Anyway, here's me adding to your random thoughts! Hope everything is going well for you guys! Love ya!

Ah yes, frozen waffles...i ate them every morning growing up...and i still do! Eggo makes chocolate chip waffles that are our favorite. Smith's Kroger brand are pretty good too :) you'll love em!

I'm not a fan of frozen waffles of the eggo variety. They taste like cardboard to me. I'll make a huge batch of waffles though and then freeze the leftovers so that we have 'frozen waffles' as an option for breakfast on the days I oversleep.

I wish they had told you sooner too. I'd hate for you to have to spend money on shipping it. You might get dad to stop by on the way home from Utah too.

I enjoy the blueberry frozen waffles as an on-the-road breakfast...I just toast them and as soon as they pop I grab them and run, they are good dry.

Potato heads are a great toy, she'll always draw people as giant heads with arms and legs sprouting out of them, but hey, what 3-year-old doesn't?

Have fun with your parents. Oh, and the weird food that I always want to try, but never have is Uncrustables. They look sick, I understand that they probably are, but I want to discover that for myself.
