So we saw the doctor back on Sept. 18th, and she gave us a prescription cream for the babies bum (we had been using Lotrimin for a few days). The doctor had agreed that it was a yeasty rash, poor little baby bum, and so it needed something to fight that. Last Wednesday we headed to Las Vegas, and even though we use the cream during every single diaper change we still have the rash taper down and then flare back up.
Thursday night the rash was horrid looking, so it was decided we should try a Monistat cream also. I said I would get it from the store, but it was late and the baby needed to nurse, so Brien said he would get it. I looked at him and asked, "Are you sure?" He said he would be fine and I suggested that my mom go with him. He seemed a bit annoyed, but agreed to have her company.
When he returned from the store Brien looked at me and said, "How could you let me go and buy that?!? At least you sent your mom with me." Brien hadn't been thinking clearly before he left, so he didn't realize what Monistat cream was or what it was typically used for. He told me that if my mom hadn't been with him he would have come home without it and then sent me back out.
I was just grateful to be in a place where there are stores open late. In Ely the drug stores close by 6pm and the grocery store at 10pm.

So has the Monistat worked?
I hope it was worth the embarrassment. Well, I think it was worth embarrassing Brien over.
The rash died down, but it doesn't seem to be completely gone. I think it was just a flare up on Thursday. We started alternating between the two creams.
Brien cracks me up.
sounds awful. You ought to try bag balm. I works wonders. I never used anything on my babies bums but that. Nothing else worked. You might want to try it.
Poor baby!!
Sometimes you have to treat yeast from the inside out. I'm betting your closest health food store is here though...
we are very familiar about yeast rashes! horrible stuff, that yeast! we've not had good luck getting rid of anna's too. good luck. we are hoping probiotics help.
