Jack is still uncertain about Zarina. I think he became used to her as an immobile object and he doesn't like that she can now crawl around. She will crawl on his bed to get to the canned goods, and thereby cover herself in dog hair. We are sweeping twice a day, but whenever I pick her up she still has dog hair on her chest. She's still not up on her knees to crawl, I think the hardwood floors don't provide enough traction. Back on Labor Day she figured out how to sit up on her own. (Lilah, my niece, told me that Z must have been practicing.) Late last week she started pulling herself up on the ottoman and when she's in her crib. We have baby-proofed some outlets and the cabinets. It's strange that she will be 1 next month. It kind of makes me want to cry that the first year has already passed so quickly.
Zarina loves Jack. She will stop eating to watch him walk by. Today Zarina kept petting Jack, over and over and over again. I only washed her hands a few times because I figure she crawls all over the floor and gets enough dog hair indirectly that it probably doesn't matter if she touches him directly. She loves to pet him and he just sits there and growls a low growl. Occasionally he stopped growling and seemed to resign himself to her touch. They were cute together.
Jack has decided that Cheerios taste okay after all. A few weeks ago, if Z dropped some on the ground he would sniff them and walk away. I dreaded the feel of a crushed Cheerio under my foot. Just in the last few days he has decided that food is food and if he hears one drop he comes over and gobbles it up. He will also happily lick up baby food when Z swats at the spoon and some ends up on the floor. I'm glad that since I'm stuck with him at least he is making his doggie-self useful.
Baby Z has had a never ending diaper rash for the past two weeks, at least. It goes away for a few days, I still put cream on her bum at least twice a day, and then the rash comes back. It hasn't been fun. She doesn't seem bothered by it, but I feel so bad for her. We try to let her air out, and it's not helping as far as we can tell.
Today was a yucky day to be a mom. I got to change her outfit twice because her diaper leaked, only pee, not poo, thank goodness. The extra fluids must have been too much for her; either that or I was unintentionally neglectful of her diaper needs. Anyways, today I was puked on and had residual pee transfer plus dog hair that transfers from her clothes every time I pick her up. I feel like a dirty rag. I think I need a spa day, but I don't think there's a spa in Ely.

I know that feeling, they tell ya to dress up and you'll feel better but I would muched rather be peed and puked on a t shirt!
Have you thought about Baby Z having a yeast infection, since it keeps coming back it really could be. You might want to ask your dr. To help though let her sit in a warm bath with corstarch in the water, then put plain Malox on her bum and let it dry til it's white, use a hair dryer on cool medium heat to help it dry faster. That wil do wonders!
Kyla once had the same kind of diaper rash. Her DR told us that it was a sort of yeasty rash and to use lotramin (the cream for athletes foot). I thought she was crazy, but a couple of days and the rash was gone. NIce!! Oh the Joys of being MOM!
Have you tried the yeast cream to rule out a yeast infection? If it's not that it may be a reaction to something she's eating or an allergic reaction to her diapers.
Glad the dog is being a little bit useful. Hope he adjusts to baby Z quickly.
