Camping this Week

We have decided camp again for the second time this year. The first time was with the Park family and everything to get there went wrong. Once we got to the Unitas by way of Wyoming everything went great. We spent one night in near freezing conditions and awoke to a fun morning with the family. Our drive home allowed us to pass through Evanston where we delighted in a Starbucks stop. I love big cities.
This time we are going to GBNP and the Blake's (Harvey side) are coming. It looks to be just as cold so all five sleeping bags will be coming again but this time we have a new tent. A large 6 person cabin tent. The costly purchase has limited other things we could do (pay off bills) but to make traveling and camping easier we went for the plunge. We debated over the purchase for a couple of months, since February. In the end we decided to go for it.
While growing up my family (Park's) passed up many opportunities to fix up our house and instead used that money to go on vacation. I am much happier that we did. I remember great times on the beaches of Utah's lakes and being drug behind our boat. It was much more fun than a second bathroom. It was much more meaningful than carpet in my room. Thanks Mom and Dad. Because of these memories I and Andrea talked and deciding we wanted to start our memories of camping, hiking, boating in my canoe, all around traveling with our family. We had a great time in Bryce Canyon and look to have a great time in Great Basin. I want Zarina to look back at pictures of her out in the world seeing beautiful places from the perched position on her dad's back. I want her to see that we cared for her enough to take her places and see things. Yeah, she will not remember any of the times we took her camping in the near future but, she will see we cared. We could hold off for a few years so that or travels will be remembered by her but then we would not be in the habit.
I have a new position at work and vacations next summer will be weekend trips to places near by. But we are hoping to go for a week trip somewhere far in November or December perhaps, Disneyland, the south rim of the Grand Canyon? If anyone wants to come the invitation has been sent.

Sounds good, hope you can continue when she gets older and others come along. It gets more difficult. Good luck :)

Jon would totally be on board for a Grand Cayon trip. He's not a big fan of Disneyland, even though I want to take them, he doesn't. (He's strange in many ways, but so are you.)

Is that this year or 2009?

I hope Zarina likes to pee outside. ;)
I have no memories of camping with my family. Only ones where my mother made me go out with the Boy Scouts to Death Valley and I thought I would die from the heat on the "longest" hikes in the world. I can go to the Grand Canyon, Derek will come too, if there is a hotel near by.

I wish I could go on a hike perched on my daddy's back! how great would that be? She will look back and see she is definitely cared for. Have lots of fun and be safe!

Have fun in GBNP! That is where we go with Jarin's family! We love the hikes up to the pond and Lehman's cave. Maybe next year we will meet you up there!

Hi you guys! I'm finally planning on making a trip to the States sometime in November. So if that invite is really open to "anyone", then I'd love to go somewhere with you guys. My vote is for Disneyland...I can't wait to finally see and squeeze your baby (she's too cute!)
...love ya
