I have only decided that there is time to write for a minute. I have stayed home sick today, and ironically I feel worse now then I did this morning when I called in. I would post pictures, but I don't think the cord is plugged into the computer to download, and I don't know where to find it.
Dec. 2nd (Sat.) we were able to participate in the youth temple trip. We are in the St. George temple district, it took about 3 hours to get there, and the 3 boys in our car were nice and nerdy enough that we had a good drive there and back. One of the boys was named Kirk, and I said, "As in captain of the Enterprise?" He told us that his dad was a big fan of Star Trek and that his middle name "was like Captain Kirk's son." I responded, "So your name is Kirk David?" Brien laughed and Kirk said that if there had been another boy in the family he was going to be named after one of the other captains.
Brien incredulously said," Jean-Luc Picard?!?!" No that was the wrong name.
I guessed, "Pike, Christopher Pike?" Yes, Christopher was the right name. Brien laughed again at my nerdiness, but really he should thank my mother. I don't consider myself a trekkie, I am not a crazed fan, I just picked up a bit of Star Trek Trivia over the years.
It was nice to visit the St. George temple. The physical layout is different than what I'm used to, but I enjoyed assisting the youth as they performed temple work.
After putting up our Christmas Tree (thank you Deneece) on Dec. 3rd and decorating for the holidays, we decided there was finally time to paint. Our tree was moved to the kitchen this past Sat. (Dec. 10th), and the other decorations (nativities and little trees) were moved to the den. So it's even more difficult to reach the computer and I have only gone on-line to pay bills. Sat. we were only able to prime, Monday I can't remember what we got done or rather what we didn't get done. I think that's when Brien worked on getting the ceiling painted and I worked on cutting the ceiling (painting the edge for a cleaner line). Tues. we (Brien) were able to get most of the bedroom painted. Three walls are now blue, rainy lake I believe, I will go around and touch up this Saturday. The third wall is going to be toasted pinenut, it's a nice light tan/khaki that we are also going to use in the bedroom and hallway (more than anything we just like the name of the paint, I preferred another shade, but the name was too plain.) In our living room I started our textured wall, I put on the layer of gold while talking on the phone with Glenn. Yesterday was busy, because in addition to painting Brien went to Mutual (church youth activity), I went Visiting Teaching (visit the other women from church), and we had tithing settlement (voluntary interview with the leader of our congregation).
Brien hopes to install the garbage disposal and also the dishwasher this Saturday. When technology permits I will post pictures.
